Hvilan SFI (a division of Folkhögskolan Hvilan) offers Swedish for immigrants in our new office at Lilla Fiskaregatan 1A, floor 3. At Hvilan SFI you can choose from different forms of courses for the best fit.

Study path 2, daytime from 09:00 - 12:15.
Study path 3, where you study 15 hours / week but you are free to choose one of the following course specilizations:

  • Kombo/Hvilan flex is a semi-online course where you participate in lessons in the school atleast 3 times weekly. You do your online booking which days you can attend. Minimum is 8 hours weekly. Rest of the time is online.
  • Distans is a course where you participate online with a minimum of 2 lessons each week for live lessons which you sign up for in advance though our online-booking system. Guidance and feedback from you teachers are available online.
  • Kvällskurs is an evening course with scheduled lessons 2-3 times each week between 17:30 - 19:30. Outside these hours you study online. 

Regardless of which type of sfi-form you choose, you will:

  • Have a teacher/mentor who guides you through your SFI courses.
  • Receive individual guidance.
  • Do online and ordinary exercises to prepare for classes and gain prior knowledge.
  • Use your prior knowledge in effective lessons that focus on speaking, interacting and understanding

SFI 2
Daytime: 15 hours a week

These in-person, on-site classes are held every weekday from 10.00-13.00. SFI Day is available for courses B, C and D.

SFI 3
For SFI 3 we offer combination classes (Kombo/Hvilan flex), distance classes and evening classes.

Kombo/Hvilan flex
Daytime: equivalent to 15 hours a week
This course is extra flexible for those who are used to studying independently and using digital tools. It combines in-person classes held during the day with online assignments and focuses on your individual needs and development. You must have an internet connection and a computer to participate.
You will:
• Choose and schedule when to attend in-person, on-site classes
• Receive mentor guidance based on your needs
• Participate in lessons focused on listening, writing or speaking – 50 minutes per class
• Study and do online exercises to prepare for classes and gain prior knowledge
• Use your prior knowledge in effective lessons that focus on speaking, interacting and understanding

Kvällskurs
Evenings: equivalent to 15 hours a week

These in-person, on-site classes are held twice a week from 17.30-19.00 with your course group and teacher. SFI evening, besides the classes, also includes 11 hours self studies online. You need an internet connection and a computer to be able to participate. You will:
• Study and do online exercises to prepare for classes and gain prior knowledge
• Use your prior knowledge in effective lessons that focus on speaking, interacting and understanding
• Complete various independent assignments at home and submit them via an online learning platform

Distans
Online: 15 hours a week
Distans is designed for those who are very used to self-study and using computers. Classes and instruction occur almost entirely via distance, and you need an internet connection and a computer to participate.
You will:
• Study and do online exercises to prepare and gain prior knowledge
• Use your prior knowledge in remote classes that focus on speaking and interacting with other participants
• Meet the expectation of studying 15 hours per week
• Attend any in-person, on-site meetings in Lund that may occur during a course

Organization

Folkhögskolan Hvilan is the accountable authority and organiser, conducts its study programmes on the basis of the Regulation concerning State Grants for Public Education (2015:218) and has the right to issue grades for SFI on the basis of the Swedish Education Act (2010:800).
